We are a both a fraternal order and a church. The ecclesiastical arm of OTO is called the Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica, or Gnostic Catholic Church. Lay membership in the EGC is open to the public–you do not need to be an initiate of OTO or a local member of Sekhet Bast Ra to be baptized and confirmed. However, ordination as a Deacon, Priest or Priestess, or Bishop requires initiation in OTO.
The main activity of EGC is celebrating the Gnostic Mass, our central ritual. We also provide many the same services that many other churches do, such as weddings and last rites for our members.
